Кому это нужно?
Обычно люди которые пишут тексты на заказ, постовые в блогуне, краткие обзоры статей и сайтов, или наоборот покупают тексты – рассчитывают стоимость текста исходя из размера текста. Для этого необходимо посчитать количество знаков (ещё говорят символов или букв) в тексте.
Что делать не надо?
Не надо считать водя пальцем или двигая курсором по экрану – легко сбиться и экран замусолится, и вообще, это как-то глупо имея компьютер с 4 поколения с двумя а то и более ядрами.
Что может помочь?
Обычно сегодня у всех в компьютере установлен Word 2007. Ну, в офисах точно. Если сам текст не в Word, то сначало копируем его туда. Далее, в низу в панеле статуса видим значок (пометил красной стрелкой), который говорит, сколько слов в тексте.
Потом выделяем весь текст мышкой (это для тех, кто в танке, кто продвинутый жмёт Ctrl+A) и щедкаем левой кнопкой мыши прямо туда, где я указал красной стрелкой. Далее вы все сами увидите, сколько у вас символов в тексте и с пробелами и без.
